I am getting the message, ‘Connection refused by the update server.’ or the screen states ‘Connecting’ and refuses to do anything else.
This is to do with the GPRS settings on the handset. The first time you attempt and update you will be asked which Access Point you wish to use to connect to the update server via GPRS. Once selected, no further prompts are given and any changes need to be made manually. To do this select Options, Settings, Update, then use the soft keys and navigation keys to select a different Access Point. You may need to experiment with different Access Points to find one that works. If none of the Access Points allow a connection to the update server, you will need to either configure an existing or setup a new Access Point.
The easiest way to do this is to have them sent to your mobile phone as a free SMS direct from your network provider where possible. We have provided links below to the main operators that will take you directly to the relevant page.

Can I make / receive phone calls whilst Road Angel Mobile is running?
As a call is being received, i.e. the phone is ringing, the application pauses to allow the handset to indicate a call is coming in. No alerts will be received whilst this happens. As soon as the call is answered, rejected, goes to voice mail or the caller hangs up the application returns to the foreground.
Can I use a Bluetooth headset whilst Road Angel Mobile is running?
Despite the fact that Road Angel Mobile uses a Bluetooth connection to receive the GPS signal, it is still possible to use a Bluetooth headset whilst the application is running. The GPS receiver uses the Bluetooth serial port profile allowing for another device to be paired using a different profile at the same time. Note: For the Bluetooth headset to work alongside the application it needs to be one that connects to the phone using the headset profile.

Why am I getting an Alert to camera that is not there?
It is possible that the camera have been removed from the database since you last updated. For assistance updating Road Angel Mobile, click here. Road Angel Mobile is directional, in that it only alerts to cameras that can enforce the speed in the direction you are traveling. If there is a camera on a road nearby that enforces in a similar direction to the one you are on you may start to get an alert. In most cases the alert will drop out before it reaches the full 5 bar warning. The higher the Alert Distance setting you have Road Angel Mobile set too, the more likely you are to receive an alert to a camera on a nearby road.
Why does the speed display on Road Angel Mobile differ slightly to the speedometer in my vehicle?
At a constant speed, Road Angel Mobile gives a more accurate speedometer reading than that of the car. This is because the speedometer readout is governed by the rolling circumference of the tyre in contact with the road surface. Different tyre pressures, sizes and tread wear can all make a difference to the speedometer reading. For this reason every manufacturer has to calibrate the speedometer to ensure that at no point can the vehicle be traveling faster than is indicated. Road Angel Mobile speed lags because the Bluetooth GPS receiver only transmits the GPS location information once a second. As a result there will always be a delay under acceleration and deceleration.
